What is it?

The Haka is a type of war dance which used to be used to tell the enemy that the Maori folk welcomed the challenge of the oposition and were not afraid. It is sacred to Maori people as they believe that in doing the haka they are calling there ancestors to there side making them stronger and more capable of winning the battle.

The video shows a Haka of welcome which is performed by students at Carruth Boarding House - Whangarei Boys' High School at a parents induction evening. I would like to thank the following for appearing in the video: Sam Berry, Elliott Poynter, and the students of Carruth Boarding House in New Zealand
